"Beyond the Bench" reimagines bus stops in San Luis Obispo to encourage public transit use by transforming them into engaging, multi-purpose spaces. Addressing rising air pollution and low ridership, the design introduces four adaptable bus stop typologies: garden, activity, shelter, and art. Each prototype is modular and site-specific, integrating flexible programs to enhance user experience. By exploring both organic and industrial forms, the project aims to create context-driven transit stops that foster comfort and excitement around public transportation.
