Quicksilver Shores at Almaden Lake Park
Location: San Jose, CA

The Guadalupe River watershed is contaminated with mercury from mining practices in the 1840s, leading to Almaden Lake being filled with mercury-polluted water. The concentrations of mercury and methylmercury are dangerous to humans and wildlife. This project looks to remediate the contaminated water, increase and improve wildlife habitat, and revitalize recreational and educational amenities for visitors.
